Overview
ABLY is a South Korean e-commerce platform operated by Ably Corporation (에이블리코퍼레이션), offering fashion, beauty, digital, life, and food categories through a single style-focused shopping app. The company was founded in 2018 and is led by CEO Kang Seok-hun (강석훈).
In 2020, Ably was designated a government 'pre-unicorn' company by South Korea's Ministry of SMEs and Startups. The platform grew its user base to roughly 12 million cumulative members and 8 million monthly active users, and its open-market seller program ('Ably Sellers') and fulfillment service ('Ably Partners') became significant contributors to revenue growth alongside its core product sales.
Ably Corporation posted its first full-year operating profit in 2023, with revenue of 259.5 billion won and operating profit of 3.3 billion won, following several years of planned losses during a period of rapid expansion. In December 2024, Alibaba Group invested in the company as part of its push into international markets, and Ably's 2024 fundraising valued the company at roughly 3 trillion won, pushing it into 'unicorn' territory. In April 2026, Ably Corporation was promoted from small-and-medium enterprise to mid-sized enterprise (중견기업) status under Korea's SME framework, a transition Korean press coverage notes only about 0.2% of small and medium enterprises make each year — reached, per that coverage, without the acquisition-based consolidation into a larger conglomerate that has been common among Korean fashion platforms.
