Overview

Ant Group is a Chinese financial technology company headquartered in Hangzhou, best known as the operator of Alipay, one of the world's largest mobile and online payments platforms. It was formally established on October 16, 2014 as Ant Financial Services Group, an affiliate of Alibaba Group, and traces its roots to Alipay, which Jack Ma and Alibaba launched in 2004 as an escrow payment service. Ant Group operates far beyond payments today: it runs Ant Fortune (wealth management/mutual fund distribution), Huabei and Jiebei (consumer credit), MYbank (a digital bank for small businesses), Zhima Credit (a credit-scoring system), and an insurance platform, alongside Ant International, its overseas cross-border payments and digital-finance arm. The company's planned $34.5 billion dual Shanghai/Hong Kong IPO was suspended by Chinese regulators in November 2020, days before it was due to price, triggering a multi-year restructuring into a financial holding company subject to bank-like capital rules and a steep markdown in its private valuation. Since regulators cleared the way in 2023, Ant has rebuilt around AI, pushing generative-AI features into Alipay, its AI health app AQ, and enterprise AI tooling, while Ant International has pursued a possible Hong Kong listing and stablecoin licensing.

Private securities are speculative, illiquid, and involve risk of complete loss of principal. You should be prepared to hold private securities for an extended period; there is no assurance of a secondary market, an IPO, or other liquidity event. You are fully responsible for conducting your own due diligence. Pricing is indicative — nothing here is an offer of securities.
