Overview
Astromech is a Texas-based artificial intelligence company co-founded in 2025 by serial entrepreneur Ben Lamm and Harvard geneticist George Church. The company builds predictive AI models of biological and evolutionary change, drawing on genomic data across species to forecast disease risk, aging, and system vulnerabilities.
After its existence and $30 million seed raise were first publicly reported in August 2025, Astromech disclosed via an SEC filing in March 2026 that it had raised a total of $40.5 million and reached a $2 billion valuation less than a year after spinning out of Colossal Biosciences. In August 2026 the company raised a further $20 million led by biotech investor Bob Nelsen, bringing total funding to $60.5 million at a $3.8 billion valuation.
