Overview

AUTODOC SE is Europe's leading digital platform for the automotive aftermarket, operating an e-commerce business that sells spare parts, accessories, tires, and tools for cars, trucks, and motorcycles to individual drivers and independent repair workshops. Headquartered in Berlin, Germany, the company was founded in 2008 by Alexej Erdle, Max Wegner, and Vitalij Kungel, initially under the name E&S Pkwteile GmbH, and now operates across 27 European countries.

AUTODOC grew for well over a decade largely without outside capital, expanding from its German home market into Austria and Switzerland in 2011, then the UK, France, Italy, and Spain from 2012, and adding truck and motorcycle parts in 2018. The company changed its legal form to a German stock corporation (AG) in September 2021 and converted to a European public limited company, Autodoc SE, in November 2022, while remaining privately held by its founders.

In April 2024, funds managed by Apollo acquired a minority stake in AUTODOC at an equity valuation of 2.3 billion euros, the company's first significant outside investment. In 2026, AUTODOC arranged a debt financing package including a Term Loan B to fund the repurchase of Apollo's stake, and in August 2026 the three co-founders reclaimed full ownership through their holding vehicle, AutoTech GmbH & Co. KG, concluding the Apollo partnership. AUTODOC has said the transaction positions it for possible future capital-markets access, but as of this writing it remains privately (founder) owned and is not listed on any stock exchange.
