Overview
BharatPe is an Indian fintech company, operated by New Delhi-based legal entity Resilient Innovations Private Limited, that provides UPI QR-code payments, point-of-sale devices, merchant credit and other financial products to small and medium merchants across India. It was founded in 2018 by Ashneer Grover, Shashvat Nakrani and Bhavik Koladiya and remains an independently held private company that has not filed to go public.
The company disclosed a $370 million Series E funding round in August 2021, led by Tiger Global, that valued BharatPe at $2.85 billion -- its most recent publicly disclosed primary funding round with confirmed terms. As of 2026, BharatPe reports serving more than 17 million merchant partners across 450-plus Indian cities, with total payment volume exceeding Rs.1,700 billion and more than Rs.14,600 crore in business loans facilitated to date.
BharatPe's early years were marked by a highly public 2022 governance dispute in which co-founder Ashneer Grover was accused of financial irregularities and resigned from his managing director role; the dispute produced years of litigation between Grover and the company, including a 2023 counter-accusation by Grover against fellow co-founder Bhavik Koladiya, before the parties reached a settlement in September 2024 under which Grover's shares were transferred to a trust and both sides ended all further proceedings. Nalin Negi, previously the company's CFO and interim CEO, was elevated to permanent CEO in April 2024, and Rajnish Kumar, former chairman of the State Bank of India, serves as BharatPe's chairperson.
