Overview
BitSight is a cyber risk intelligence company that produces security ratings and risk-monitoring tools used by enterprises, insurers, and governments to assess the cybersecurity posture of their own organizations and their vendors and supply chains. The company was founded in 2011 by Nagarjuna Venna and Stephen Boyer and is headquartered in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts.
The company's platform combines continuous, internet-wide scanning with threat intelligence and AI-driven attribution to help security teams discover assets, quantify third-party and supply-chain exposure, and prioritize remediation. According to BitSight's own site, the platform continuously scans billions of IP addresses, monitors tens of thousands of vendors for third-party risk, draws on threat intelligence from over a thousand underground sources, and benchmarks organizations against a rated universe of hundreds of millions of entities.
BitSight has grown through a combination of venture funding, a large strategic investment from ratings agency Moody's Corporation, and acquisitions, including VisibleRisk (a cyber risk assessment startup, 2021) and Cybersixgill (a real-time cyber threat intelligence company, 2024). BitSight reports serving thousands of global organizations, including a large share of the Global Fortune 500, across sectors such as insurance, financial services, and retail.
Private securities are speculative, illiquid, and involve risk of complete loss of principal. You should be prepared to hold private securities for an extended period; there is no assurance of a secondary market, an IPO, or other liquidity event. You are fully responsible for conducting your own due diligence. Pricing is indicative — nothing here is an offer of securities.
