Overview

Bitso is a Mexico City-headquartered cryptocurrency exchange and financial services platform serving Latin America, founded in 2014 by Daniel Vogel, Ben Peters, and Pablo Gonzalez as one of the region's first crypto exchanges. Bitso was founded by Daniel Vogel, Ben Peters, Pablo Gonzalez.

The platform has expanded from a basic crypto trading exchange into a broader financial services offering that includes peer-to-peer crypto trading, stablecoin products, cross-border remittances and international payments, lending, and (per the company's own current site) access to more than 120 cryptocurrencies alongside thousands of global stocks and ETFs, describing itself as a 'Hybrid Finance' provider bridging crypto and traditional markets. It also operates a business-to-business division, Bitso Business, focused on cross-border payment processing for enterprise clients.

By 2020 Bitso had reached roughly one million users across Mexico and Argentina while processing about $1 billion in remittances annually with around 200 employees; by May 2021, following its Series C round, the company reported 2 million users, more than 300 employees across 25 countries, and had opened additional offices in Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, and Gibraltar. Bitso's LinkedIn profile currently describes the company as serving over 10 million customers, though that figure could not be independently corroborated through a second reachable source and is therefore not included in the checked stats below.
