Overview
Collibra is a data intelligence and governance software company founded in 2008 in Brussels, Belgium by Felix Van de Maele, Stijn Christiaens, Pieter De Leenheer and Damien Trog, spinning out of semantic-technology research at Vrije Universiteit Brussel. The company's platform helps large enterprises catalog, govern, and trace the lineage of their data, and has more recently extended into governing the unstructured data and metadata used to train and run AI systems.
Collibra relocated its headquarters to New York City in 2015 and now also maintains a major hub in Brussels. The company has raised over $600 million across multiple venture rounds, most recently a $250 million Series G in November 2021 that valued it at $5.25 billion, and counts Sequoia Capital Global Equities, Sofina, ICONIQ Capital, Battery Ventures, Index Ventures, Dawn Capital, CapitalG and Tiger Global Management among its backers.
In July 2025, Collibra acquired Deasy Labs, a startup specializing in automated discovery and enrichment of unstructured data, to extend its governance platform beyond structured databases. Collibra remains privately held with no announced IPO timeline.
Private securities are speculative, illiquid, and involve risk of complete loss of principal. You should be prepared to hold private securities for an extended period; there is no assurance of a secondary market, an IPO, or other liquidity event. You are fully responsible for conducting your own due diligence. Pricing is indicative — nothing here is an offer of securities.
