Overview

DataRobot was founded in 2012 by data scientists Jeremy Achin and Tom de Godoy, who built the company around automating the machine-learning model development lifecycle so that data scientists, analysts, and business users could build, deploy, and monitor predictive models without deep ML expertise. Achin served as CEO from the company's founding until March 2021.

Debanjan Saha, a two-decade veteran of multi-billion-dollar data and cloud businesses at Google and Amazon Web Services, joined DataRobot as President & COO in February 2022, was named Interim CEO in July 2022, and became permanent CEO in September 2022. Mark Hawkins, the former CFO of Salesforce, has served as Chairman of DataRobot's Board of Directors since June 2024.

The company's most recent primary funding round was a $300 million Series G in July 2021 that valued DataRobot at $6.3 billion, led by Altimeter Capital and Tiger Global. DataRobot has raised more than $1 billion in total funding since founding. Third-party fund marks reported by investors including BlackRock and Franklin Templeton in late 2025 and early 2026 indicate the company's valuation has compressed substantially from its 2021 peak, though DataRobot has not disclosed an updated official valuation.

In 2025 and 2026, DataRobot has focused on agentic AI: it acquired the distributed-computing startup Agnostiq in February 2025, became an SAP Endorsed App in August 2025, introduced a three-layer AI governance framework extending policy enforcement beyond the public cloud in July 2026, and was named a Leader for the third consecutive year in the June 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Science and Machine Learning Platforms.
