Overview
Eruditus (whose primary consumer- and enterprise-facing brand is Emeritus) is a Singapore-headquartered edtech company founded in 2010 by Ashwin Damera and Chaitanya Kalipatnapu. It partners with more than 80 top-tier universities — including MIT, Harvard Business School, Columbia, INSEAD, Wharton, the University of Cambridge and UC Berkeley — to deliver online, on-campus and hybrid executive education, degree, and professional-certificate programs to working professionals, with major operating hubs in Mumbai and Boston in addition to its Singapore headquarters.
Eruditus became one of India's unicorn startups in August 2021 when it raised $650 million at a $3.2 billion valuation led by Accel and SoftBank Vision Fund 2, and has since paired occasional equity rounds with a debt-first financing strategy, including a $350 million CPP Investments facility in 2022 and a $150 million refinancing from MARS Growth Capital and HSBC in September 2025. A $150 million Series F led by TPG's The Rise Fund in October 2024 held its valuation roughly flat at $3.1 billion; CEO Ashwin Damera has said the company is exploring shifting its corporate domicile from Singapore to India ahead of a possible future IPO, without committing to a timeline.
Private securities are speculative, illiquid, and involve risk of complete loss of principal.
