Etraveli has been under private-equity ownership since 2015, first under German media group ProSiebenSat.1 and then, from 2017, under CVC Capital Partners, which bought the company at a €508 million enterprise value; in July 2025 investment firm KKR acquired a minority stake alongside CVC at a reported €2.7 billion valuation. Booking Holdings agreed in November 2021 to buy Etraveli Group for €1.63 billion, but the European Commission blocked the deal in September 2023 on the grounds that it would entrench Booking's dominant position in European online hotel booking, and in September 2026 the EU General Court rejected Booking's appeal and upheld that block, leaving Etraveli Group an independent, privately held company backed by CVC Capital Partners and KKR.
