Overview

Figure AI is a San Jose, California-based robotics company founded in 2022 by Brett Adcock to build general-purpose humanoid robots. Adcock previously founded the recruiting platform Vettery (sold for roughly $100M) and the electric-aircraft company Archer Aviation, which he took public.

Figure's robots are designed to perform physical work currently done by human employees in manufacturing, logistics, warehousing and retail, with an eventual target of household use. Figure 02 worked assembly-line tasks at BMW Group's Spartanburg, South Carolina plant, contributing to the assembly of over 30,000 cars. Figure 03, unveiled October 9, 2025, is a ground-up redesign built for both commercial deployment and the home, and has since been deployed at BMW Spartanburg for more complex 'sequencing' logistics work.

The company develops its own AI stack in-house, including the Helix vision-language-action model (Helix 02 released January 27, 2026), after ending an earlier 2024 collaboration agreement with OpenAI in February 2025. Figure operates BotQ, a dedicated manufacturing facility, and has said it is targeting production scale of up to 100,000 robots per year.

Figure has raised approximately $1.9 billion in venture capital across three disclosed rounds (Series A, B and C) and reached a $39 billion post-money valuation in its September 2025 Series C, backed by investors including Parkway Venture Capital, NVIDIA, Microsoft, Intel Capital, Brookfield Asset Management, Qualcomm Ventures and Salesforce.
