Overview

Olix Computing (originally founded as Flux Computing) is a London-based startup building specialized silicon and optical interconnect hardware for AI inference. Founded in March 2024 by James Dacombe, the company rebranded from Flux Computing to Olix Computing Ltd. in January 2026 around the close of a $220 million Series A round. Olix's flagship product line, the X-1 platform, is anchored by the DX-1 decode accelerator chip, which keeps AI models resident in on-chip SRAM memory and uses optical interconnects rather than high-bandwidth memory (HBM) or advanced packaging, components the company says are the industry's most supply-constrained.

The company has grown from its founding team to more than 70 employees, with plans to scale past 200 staff, and now operates out of London and Bristol alongside offices in Austin, Toronto and San Francisco. In August 2026 Olix closed a $312 million Series B at a $3.3 billion valuation, co-led by Fundomo, Arm and Hudson River Trading with participation from Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings and the UK government's Sovereign AI venture fund, and appointed networking pioneer Professor Nick McKeown to its board alongside new CFO Matt Briers, former CFO of Wise. Olix expects to deliver its first DX-1 chips to customers in the second half of 2027.
