G7
Overview
G7 is a Beijing-based Internet of Things (IoT) technology company that provides smart fleet management and value-added services to logistics and trucking companies across China. The company has described itself as the largest open IoT platform in China's logistics sector, connecting hundreds of thousands of commercial vehicles in real time for customers ranging from individual truck owners to large logistics fleets.
In April 2018, G7 formed a joint venture with logistics real-estate group GLP and NIO Capital to develop next-generation smart heavy-duty trucks, focused on autonomous driving, electric powertrains, logistics big data, and 'asset-as-a-service' models for the transportation industry — with G7 in control of the venture.
In November 2018, G7 signed a memorandum of understanding with Japanese trading house Marubeni to jointly explore new fleet-management business models, combining Marubeni's global asset-operations experience with G7's IoT and AI capabilities. The following month, G7 announced a record-setting $320 million funding round backed by global institutional investors, aimed at accelerating smart fleet management and autonomous-truck development. G7's founder and CEO is Zhai Xuehun.
