Group14 Technologies is a Woodinville, Washington-based battery materials company that manufactures SCC55, a silicon-carbon composite anode material designed to increase the energy density and charging speed of lithium-ion batteries.
Founded in 2015 by CEO Rick Luebbe and Dr. Rick Costantino as a spin-out of the silicon-carbon research the pair had led at EnerG2 (acquired by BASF in 2016), Group14 has built commercial-scale production of SCC55 in Woodinville, Washington, with additional factories under construction in Moses Lake, Washington and operating in Sangju, South Korea through a former joint venture with SK, Inc.
