Overview
Harvey builds domain-specific generative AI for legal and professional services, helping law firms, in-house legal teams and other professional-services organizations with contract analysis, due diligence, litigation support, compliance and regulatory work.
Founded in 2022 by Winston Weinberg, a former securities and antitrust litigator at O'Melveny & Myers, and Gabriel "Gabe" Pereyra, a former research scientist at Google DeepMind and Meta, Harvey began by cold-emailing OpenAI CEO Sam Altman about a landlord-tenant law proof of concept, which led to an initial investment from the OpenAI Startup Fund.
The company now says more than 3,000 organizational customers across 70+ countries use its platform, as of September 2026, including roughly 80% of the Am Law 100, as well as in-house legal teams at companies including Microsoft, Bridgewater, Comcast and Carvana.
In September 2026 Harvey announced its first in-house AI model, Harvey Tenet, built from an open-weight foundation model and post-trained on legal data, and acquired Guardrails AI, an AI-agent-reliability company, as part of a broader push to build proprietary legal AI infrastructure.
Private securities are speculative, illiquid, and involve risk of complete loss of principal. You should be prepared to hold private securities for an extended period; there is no assurance of a secondary market, an IPO, or other liquidity event. You are fully responsible for conducting your own due diligence. Pricing is indicative — nothing here is an offer of securities.
