Overview
HistoSonics, Inc. is a privately held medical device company that develops and commercializes the Edison System, the first and only histotripsy platform cleared by the FDA, which uses focused ultrasound to non-invasively destroy tissue and tumors inside the body without incisions or radiation.
Spun out of the University of Michigan in 2009 by histotripsy co-inventors Charles Cain and Zhen Xu, the company has since raised financing from strategic and institutional investors including Johnson & Johnson Innovation, and in August 2025 had a majority stake acquired by a syndicate of investors that valued the company at approximately $2.25 billion.
Private securities are speculative, illiquid, and involve risk of complete loss of principal. You should be prepared to hold private securities for an extended period; there is no assurance of a secondary market, an IPO, or other liquidity event. You are fully responsible for conducting your own due diligence. Pricing is indicative — nothing here is an offer of securities.
