Overview
Illumio is a Sunnyvale, California-based cybersecurity company that builds Zero Trust segmentation (microsegmentation) software designed to contain breaches by stopping lateral movement of attackers inside an organization's network, across data centers, hybrid infrastructure, and multi-cloud environments.
The company was founded in 2013 by Andrew Rubin and P.J. Kirner, who set out to make microsegmentation practical at enterprise scale by mapping application dependencies and enforcing granular security policy without relying on traditional network hardware changes.
Illumio describes its platform as being built specifically for breach containment, on the premise that breaches are effectively inevitable and that reducing their blast radius matters as much as trying to prevent them outright. Its customers include large financial institutions, SaaS providers, and other enterprises; the company states its software protects more than 15 Fortune 100 companies, secures 6 of the 10 largest global banks, and safeguards 3 of the 5 largest enterprise SaaS companies, including named clients such as Microsoft, Morgan Stanley, Salesforce, ServiceNow, and BNP Paribas.
As of this research, Illumio remains an independently held private company; SEC EDGAR records show only Form D exempt securities offering notices (no registered public equity, no S-1 or 10-K filings) filed under Illumio, Inc. (CIK 0001567658), most recently in July 2021.
Private securities are speculative, illiquid, and involve risk of complete loss of principal. You should be prepared to hold private securities for an extended period; there is no assurance of a secondary market, an IPO, or other liquidity event. You are fully responsible for conducting your own due diligence. Pricing is indicative — nothing here is an offer of securities.
