Overview

Ineffable Intelligence is a London-based artificial intelligence research company founded in late 2025 by David Silver, a University College London professor who spent over a decade leading DeepMind's reinforcement learning team and was the lead architect behind AlphaGo, AlphaZero, and AlphaStar. The company is pursuing what it calls a "superlearner" — an AI system intended to discover knowledge and skills entirely from its own experience through reinforcement learning, rather than from human-generated data, positioning it as a distinct approach from data-trained large language models.

In April 2026 Ineffable Intelligence emerged from stealth with a $1.1 billion seed round co-led by Sequoia Capital and Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from Nvidia, Google, Index Ventures, DST Global, the UK's Sovereign AI Fund, and the British Business Bank, valuing the company at roughly $5.1 billion post-money and reported as the largest seed round ever raised in Europe.

In September 2026 the company added six new co-founders to its leadership team, including four former Google DeepMind researchers, the former head of research at InstaDeep, and a former venture partner at Flying Fish, and it has separately announced a Google Cloud compute partnership.

As of this research, Ineffable Intelligence remains a private, seed-stage company with no reported IPO plans or timeline.

Private securities are speculative, illiquid, and involve risk of complete loss of principal. You should be prepared to hold private securities for an extended period; there is no assurance of a secondary market, an IPO, or other liquidity event.
