Overview

Lovable is a Stockholm, Sweden-based AI software company that lets people build working web apps and websites by describing what they want in plain-language chat prompts, rather than writing code by hand. The company was founded in 2023 by Anton Osika and Fabian Hedin, growing out of Osika's open-source project GPT Engineer, which used large language models to generate software from natural-language instructions. The GPT Engineer product was rebranded Lovable and opened to the public in November 2024. Since then the company has become one of the fastest-growing software startups on record: it says it crossed $100 million in annualized recurring revenue within eight months of its public launch, and reported roughly $500 million in annualized run-rate revenue by June 2026. Lovable describes its platform as hosting tens of millions of user-built projects, which together draw hundreds of millions of monthly visits, and counts enterprise customers such as Klarna and HubSpot among its users. The company has raised capital in a rapid sequence of rounds culminating in an August 2026 round that valued it at $13.3 billion, with investors including Menlo Ventures, an EU-backed growth vehicle called the Scaleup Europe Fund, and Tencent Holdings.
