Overview
Mambu is an Amsterdam-headquartered, Berlin-founded provider of cloud-based core banking and lending software, offered to banks, fintechs, and other financial service providers on a software-as-a-service model. The company began as a Carnegie Mellon University Master's capstone project studying microfinance institutions in Mozambique, and was formally founded in 2011 by three of that project's team members.
Mambu grew from serving microfinance lenders in Latin America and Africa into a platform used by challenger banks and incumbents including N26, Raiffeisen Bank, BancoEstado, and ABN Amro, and reached a $5.3 billion valuation in a December 2021 Series E round led by EQT Growth.
Co-founder Eugene Danilkis stepped down as CEO in June 2023, with then-CTO Fernando Zandona named interim and later permanent CEO. As of September 2026, Mambu remains a privately held company; no funding round has been publicly confirmed since its December 2021 Series E.
