Overview
Gamma is a web-based AI platform that generates presentations, documents, webpages, and social posts from a written prompt or imported material, positioning itself as a modern alternative to PowerPoint and traditional slide software. The company was founded in late 2020 by three former colleagues from the web-experimentation company Optimizely -- Grant Lee (CEO), James Fox, and Jon Noronha -- and launched its product in private beta in August 2021 before a full product launch in 2022.
Gamma raised a $7 million seed round in October 2021 led by Accel, with participation from a number of individual angel investors (including Zoom CEO Eric Yuan and former LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner) and firms such as Script Capital, South Park Commons, LocalGlobe, Afore, and Hustle Fund. The company went on to raise a $12 million Series A from Accel in 2024, and then a $68 million Series B in November 2025 -- led by Andreessen Horowitz and including Accel, Uncork Capital, South Park Commons, and Hustle Fund -- that valued the company at approximately $2.1 billion; that round included a $20 million secondary component.
By the time of its Series B, Gamma reported roughly 70 million users, more than 600,000 paying subscribers, and about $100 million in annual recurring revenue, which the company said it reached profitably with a team of roughly 50 employees. Gamma has continued to expand its product beyond presentations, including adding AI image-generation tools aimed at competing with tools like Canva and Adobe.
Private securities are speculative, illiquid, and involve risk of complete loss of principal. You should be prepared to hold private securities for an extended period; there is no assurance of a secondary market, an IPO, or other liquidity event. You are fully responsible for conducting your own due diligence. Pricing is indicative — nothing here is an offer of securities.
