Overview
Mews was founded in Prague in 2012 by former hoteliers Richard Valtr and Matthijs (Matt) Welle, who set out to replace legacy, on-premise hotel software with a cloud-based operating system built for modern hospitality. The company describes its mission as transforming the hospitality industry with cloud solutions that make it more rewarding for everyone.
The company's core product, often referred to as the Mews Hospitality Cloud or Mews OS, bundles property management, a booking engine, point-of-sale, payments, revenue management and guest-facing tools into a single connected platform, aimed at independent hotels, hostels and larger multi-property groups alike. In 2025 and 2026 Mews expanded further into embedded finance and payments, including launching its point-of-sale system in North America and obtaining an e-money license through its regulated subsidiary Mews Financial Services B.V.
Mews has grown from a Prague-born startup into a global hospitality technology company with an office network spanning Europe and North America and is now commonly described as Amsterdam-based. As of its funding announcements in 2025, the company said its platform was used by roughly 6,300 hotels and that it had processed $10 billion in payments and crossed $200 million in annual revenue in 2024; its own site currently states the platform is used by 15,000+ hotels across 85+ countries with a team of more than 1,300 people.
