Overview

Founded in late 2015 by interventional cardiologist Jay S. Yadav, MD, MiRus was formed by merging two of Dr. Yadav's earlier ventures, Icon and Polaris, to commercialize a proprietary molybdenum-rhenium (MoRe) alloy platform for spine, orthopedic, and structural heart implants.

The company's commercial portfolio includes pedicle screw and rod systems such as the EUROPA line for posterior cervical fusion, alongside a pipeline of structural heart devices including the SIEGEL balloon-expandable transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) system.

MiRus has disclosed two funding events: a $65 million financing round in July 2021 led by Mammoth Scientific, and a $1.5 billion strategic investment from Boston Scientific announced in May 2026 for an approximately 34% equity stake, which also gave Boston Scientific an exclusive option to acquire MiRus's TAVR business for up to $3 billion in additional milestone-based payments.
