Overview

NYDIG is a New York-based bitcoin and digital-infrastructure firm founded in 2017 by Ross Stevens as an affiliate of Stone Ridge Holdings Group. It began as an institutional bitcoin platform offering custody, trading, financing, and insurance-industry bitcoin solutions for banks, insurers, and asset managers.

Since 2024, NYDIG has expanded aggressively into vertically integrated power and compute infrastructure. In October 2024 it took a strategic stake in Coinmint, the colocation operator at a 435-megawatt former aluminum smelter campus in Massena, New York. In March 2025 it acquired Crusoe Energy's bitcoin mining business, adding more than 270 megawatts of power-generation technology and over 20 mining sites across seven U.S. states plus a joint venture in Argentina. As of April 2026, NYDIG was in advanced talks to acquire Alcoa's roughly 1,300-acre, 435-megawatt Massena East smelter site outright, aiming to close the transaction in the middle of 2026.
