Overview
Outreach was founded in 2014 by Manny Medina, Wes Hather, Gordon Hempton, and Andrew Kinzer, who had previously built a developer-staffing startup called GroupTalent through the Techstars Seattle 2011 accelerator before pivoting the team to sales-engagement software.
The company reached unicorn status in April 2019 with a $114 million Series E at a $1.1 billion valuation, becoming the first company in the sales-engagement software category to cross the $1 billion mark.
In June 2021, Outreach closed a $200 million Series G co-led by Premji Invest and Steadfast Capital Ventures, pushing its valuation to $4.4 billion and its total disclosed funding to $489 million.
Abhijit Mitra became Outreach's CEO in September 2024, succeeding co-founder Manny Medina, who moved into the role of executive chairman; Mitra had joined the company the prior year as president of product and technology after senior roles at ServiceNow, SAP, and Oracle.
Under Mitra, Outreach has repositioned itself as an agentic AI platform, rebranding to Outreach.ai in April 2026 alongside the launch of Omni, a conversational AI agent for revenue teams, and Agent Studio, a tool for building custom revenue-operations agents.
