Overview
Castelion is a defense technology company founded in 2022 by three former SpaceX executives — Bryon Hargis, Sean Pitt, and Andrew Kreitz — to manufacture hypersonic weapon systems at lower cost and faster speed than traditional defense primes. The company's first product, Blackbeard, is described as the first U.S. hypersonic strike system designed for mass production at commercial unit costs, and has flown more than 20 developmental test flights since its design began. Castelion is headquartered in Torrance, California, with additional facilities in Midland, Texas and a 1,000-acre solid rocket motor production campus ("Project Ranger") under construction in Rio Rancho/Sandoval County, New Mexico. The company has reported securing more than $500 million in U.S. military contracts and is working toward integration testing with U.S. Army and Navy platforms.
