Overview
Qianxun Spatial Intelligence (also known as Qianxun SI, or Qianxun Position in Chinese) is a Shanghai-based provider of high-precision satellite positioning, navigation and timing services built on China's BeiDou Navigation Satellite System. The company was founded in August 2015 as a joint venture between Alibaba Group Holding and China North Industries Group Corporation (Norinco Group).
Qianxun operates a nationwide network of thousands of continuously operating ground reference stations that deliver real-time centimeter-level positioning corrections across mainland China, serving use cases in autonomous driving, drones and the low-altitude economy, agriculture, surveying, and connected devices. Early partnerships included work with digital-map firm AutoNav (an Alibaba subsidiary) on autonomous-driving positioning starting in 2017 and with positioning-chip maker u-blox on mass-market high-precision positioning starting in 2018.
By its August 2024 strategic financing round, Qianxun described its network as covering more than 5,000 satellite and ground-based enhancement stations serving over 2.1 billion smart devices across more than 230 countries and regions with positioning, navigation and timing services, and stated it would use the new capital to expand into the low-altitude economy, vehicle-road-cloud integration, intelligent driving, and space-time chips.
