Overview
Recharge is a Santa Monica, California-based subscription commerce platform, founded in 2014, that provides e-commerce merchants with cloud-based software to launch, manage, and grow recurring physical-product subscription programs. The platform is used by direct-to-consumer brands seeking to convert one-time buyers into repeat subscribers, and by 2021 it reported serving 15,000 customers and roughly 20 million subscribers across 180 countries; the company's own site more recently describes serving over 20,000 businesses and more than 100 million shoppers, including brands such as quip, Dr. Squatch, Blueland, Estrid, Oats Overnight, and Bobbie.
The company was co-founded by Oisin O'Connor, who serves as Chief Executive Officer, and Mike Flynn, who serves as Chief Technology Officer. Recharge was bootstrapped for several years before raising outside venture capital, and its executive team has since expanded to include a Chief Operating Officer, Chief Revenue Officer, and Chief Customer Experience Officer.
In April 2026, Recharge announced its acquisition of Skio, another subscription commerce platform, for a reported $105 million, describing the deal as combining two leading subscription infrastructure providers to accelerate innovation; the combined companies were said to power more than 20,000 brands and process over $20 billion in annual gross merchandise value, with both platforms continuing to operate independently through the transition.
