Runway (also known as Runway AI, Inc. or RunwayML) is a New York-based applied AI research company that builds generative video and "world model" tools for filmmakers, advertisers, and other visual storytellers. Co-founded in December 2018 by Cristóbal Valenzuela, Anastasis Germanidis, and Alejandro Matamala, Runway helped originate the Stable Diffusion image model before pivoting its own product line toward text-to-video and image-to-video generation with its Gen series of models, most recently Gen-4.5.
