Saronic

Saronic Technologies is an Austin, Texas company that designs, builds and operates autonomous surface vessels for the United States Navy and allied defence customers. It was founded in 2022 by Dino Mavrookas, a former Navy SEAL who later worked in private equity at Vista Equity Partners, together with Rob Lehman, Vibhav Altekar and Doug Lambert. The premise is that naval mass can be restored faster by building uncrewed boats designed around a mission and produced at high rate than by ordering more crewed hulls from a conventional shipyard.

The product line has scaled by size rather than by variant count. The first two vessels were the six-foot Spyglass and the Cutlass; the 24-foot Corsair followed, carrying a 1,000-pound payload with a range above 1,000 nautical miles and a top speed above 35 knots. The 52-foot Mirage, launched in July 2026, carries 3,500 pounds more than 2,500 nautical miles. The 180-foot Marauder, a medium unmanned surface vessel, has a range of up to 5,400 nautical miles and a modular payload capacity of 150 metric tons. All of them are supervised through Echelon, the company's fleet command-and-control software.

Manufacturing is the part of the business that most distinguishes Saronic from an autonomy software vendor. Corsair and Mirage are built at an Austin facility of roughly 420,000 square feet. Marauder is built at a shipyard in Franklin, Louisiana, acquired in April 2025 and expanded with about $300 million of investment adding more than 300,000 square feet and around 1,500 jobs. In August 2026 the company announced a site of more than 30,000 square feet for on-water testing and commissioning at the Port of Gulfport, Mississippi, in use since mid-July 2026. Its largest commitment is Port Alpha in Brownsville, Texas, announced in July 2026: a planned investment of more than $3 billion on 835 acres, with construction starting in 2026 and operations expected in 2028.

Revenue is concentrated in defence procurement. In December 2025 the Navy awarded Saronic a $392 million production contract for Corsair, with close to $200 million placed on contract immediately, roughly a year after the prototype. In June 2026 the Marauder was one of seven designs selected to advance to at-sea testing in the Navy's Medium Unmanned Surface Vessel Marketplace. The company has also opened offices in San Diego, Washington, D.C., the United Kingdom and Australia, and in July 2026 signed a partnership with Samsung Heavy Industries covering autonomous vessel development and shipyard production technology.

Saronic has raised roughly $2.6 billion across four announced rounds since October 2023, most recently a $1.75 billion Series D led by Kleiner Perkins at a $9.25 billion post-money valuation, announced on 31 March 2026. It remains private, with no public registration statement on file.
