Overview

Side is a real estate brokerage technology platform, founded in 2017 by CEO Guy Gal, Chief Innovation Officer Ed Wu, and Chief Broker Officer Hilary Saunders, and headquartered in San Francisco. Rather than operating as a conventional brokerage, Side acts as the licensed broker of record and back-office/technology provider for top-producing agents, teams, and independent brokers, who use the platform to launch and operate their own fully agent-owned real estate companies and boutique brands.

The company's platform handles transaction management, compliance and liability, recruiting, and back-office operations so that partner agents can focus on production while retaining ownership of the businesses they build. Side has said its platform has helped launch more than 500 real estate companies across the country, and BuiltIn SF's company profile for Side lists roughly 488 employees.

Side has continued to expand its platform and partner base into 2026, including opening a version of its internal operating system, SideOS, to outside brokerages seeking centralized back-office operations, and supporting the launch of new agent-owned boutique firms such as Resident Group (co-founded by 'Buying Beverly Hills' figures Jon Grauman and Adam Rosenfeld) and DOSSIER, a luxury firm launched by Atlanta-based agent Harvin Greene.

Private securities are speculative, illiquid, and involve risk of complete loss of principal. You should be prepared to hold private securities for an extended period; there is no assurance of a secondary market, an IPO, or other liquidity event. You are fully responsible for conducting your own due diligence. Pricing is indicative — nothing here is an offer of securities.
