About
SiFive designs and licenses processor intellectual property based on the open RISC-V instruction set architecture, an alternative to proprietary architectures such as Arm and x86. Unlike a traditional chipmaker, SiFive does not sell physical chips directly; customers license its core designs and platforms and integrate them into their own silicon.

Overview
SiFive was founded in September 2015 by UC Berkeley researchers Krste Asanovic, Yunsup Lee, and Andrew Waterman, the creators of the open-source RISC-V instruction set architecture, to commercialize RISC-V-based processor IP and custom silicon design services.
The company licenses its RISC-V core IP and platforms to more than 100 paying customers, including eight of the top ten semiconductor companies, and its designs have shipped in over 2 billion devices worldwide. As of 2026 SiFive is expanding into high-performance CPUs for AI data center infrastructure, and its CEO has described the company's April 2026 Series G as its final private financing round before a planned IPO.
Private securities are speculative, illiquid, and involve risk of complete loss of principal. You should be prepared to hold private securities for an extended period; there is no assurance of a secondary market, an IPO, or other liquidity event. You are fully responsible for conducting your own due diligence. Pricing is indicative — nothing here is an offer of securities.
