Overview
Founded in 2008 in Geneva, Switzerland, Sonar grew out of an open-source static code analysis project into a commercial platform now used across the software development lifecycle for continuous code quality and security review.
The company's tools scan source code for bugs, vulnerabilities, and code smells, and Sonar has increasingly positioned its platform around reviewing AI-generated code as coding assistants have become widespread among its developer user base.
Sonar has raised outside capital from Insight Partners, Advent International, General Catalyst, and Permira, and in 2023 brought on a co-CEO from outside the founding team for the first time in its history as part of a broader push toward $1 billion in revenue.
Private securities are speculative, illiquid, and involve risk of complete loss of principal. You should be prepared to hold private securities for an extended period; there is no assurance of a secondary market, an IPO, or other liquidity event. You are fully responsible for conducting your own due diligence. Pricing is indicative — nothing here is an offer of securities.
