Overview
StarkWare Industries is an Israeli cryptography company that builds zero-knowledge proof technology to help blockchains scale. Founded in 2018 by Eli Ben-Sasson, Uri Kolodny, Michael Riabzev and Alessandro Chiesa, StarkWare develops STARK (Scalable Transparent Argument of Knowledge) proofs, a form of validity proof that compresses large batches of transactions into a single proof that can be verified cheaply on Ethereum. The company launched its first production scaling engine, StarkEx, in June 2020, and followed with Starknet in June 2021 — a permissionless Layer-2 network on which any developer can deploy scalable decentralized applications. StarkWare is headquartered in Netanya, Israel. In April 2026, facing a steep decline in Starknet network revenue, the company announced it was restructuring into two independent business units and cutting staff, pivoting part of the organization toward in-house, revenue-generating products alongside its core Ethereum-scaling infrastructure work.
