Overview

Talkdesk is a customer experience automation (CXA) platform provider that uses AI agents to handle customer service, sales, and support work for enterprises. Founded in 2011 by Tiago Paiva and Cristina Fonseca after Paiva built an early prototype during a Twilio hackathon, the company grew from a cloud-native alternative to legacy contact-center telecom systems into an AI-agent platform used by more than 1,800 customer companies including IBM, Acxiom, Trivago, and Fujitsu. Talkdesk is headquartered in San Francisco, California, with additional offices across North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific, and has been recognized as a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS). The company raised a $230 million Series D round in August 2021 that pushed its valuation to more than $10 billion, and in September 2025 it closed a $95 million debt financing round to support ongoing operations. Through 2026 Talkdesk has focused heavily on agentic AI, shipping products such as Agent Builder, an Automation Flows workflow-orchestration engine, a CXA Operations Center for monitoring AI and human agents together, and industry-specific proactive AI agents for retail and financial services.
