Overview

Tanium is a Kirkland, Washington-based cybersecurity and systems management company that provides an "Autonomous IT" platform giving IT and security teams real-time visibility into and control over endpoint devices across an organization's network. The company's platform is used to manage, patch, and secure tens of millions of endpoints for large enterprises, government agencies, and financial institutions.

Tanium was founded on July 16, 2007 by father-and-son duo David Hindawi and Orion Hindawi, who had previously co-founded and sold endpoint security company BigFix to IBM. In May 2026 the company introduced Tanium Atlas, an autonomous operating system built on a curated ensemble of AI models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google that lets a single IT or security operator query and act on real-time data across more than 36 million monitored endpoints worldwide; Atlas became generally available to all commercial cloud customers, including U.S. government cloud customers, in mid-2026.

Tanium has raised more than $900 million in disclosed funding since 2014 from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, TPG, Wellington Management, Baillie Gifford, Fidelity, and Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, most recently at a valuation of more than $9 billion. The company remains privately held as of September 2026, with no S-1 filing or announced IPO timeline despite years of public speculation about a listing. On August 20, 2026, Tanium reappointed co-founder Orion Hindawi as CEO, with predecessor Dan Streetman departing the role and the board after three years, and co-founder David Hindawi returning as Chairman of the Board.

Private securities are speculative, illiquid, and involve risk of complete loss of principal. You should be prepared to hold private securities for an extended period; there is no assurance of a secondary market, an IPO, or other liquidity event. You are fully responsible for conducting your own due diligence. Pricing is indicative — nothing here is an offer of securities.
