Overview
ThoughtSpot is a Mountain View, California-based analytics and business intelligence software company that lets business users query enterprise data using natural language and AI-driven search, rather than writing SQL or building traditional dashboards.
Founded in 2012 by Ajeet Singh (previously a co-founder of Nutanix) and Amit Prakash (formerly of Google and Microsoft), the company built its platform around a search-and-AI approach to BI before expanding into a full cloud-native analytics and embedded-analytics suite following its 2019-2020 shift to a SaaS delivery model.
ThoughtSpot has raised at least $643.7 million in individually disclosed venture funding across seven priced rounds from 2014 through 2021, most recently a $100 million Series F in November 2021 that valued the company at $4.2 billion; ThoughtSpot's own November 2021 press release cited cumulative funding of about $674 million at that point, a modest gap against the sum of individually disclosed round amounts that is not attributable to any single additional disclosed round.
Ketan Karkhanis, a longtime Salesforce executive, became CEO in September 2024, succeeding Sudheesh Nair, and the company remains privately held as of September 2026 with no announced IPO timeline or SEC registration statement on file.
