Overview
Tradeshift was founded in 2010 by Christian Lanng, Mikkel Hippe Brun and Gert Sylvest to digitize business-to-business invoicing and procurement, and grew into a cloud platform connecting more than a million buyers and suppliers for e-invoicing, purchase-to-pay automation and supply chain financing.
The company raised over $700M in venture funding through the early 2020s, including a $250M round led by Goldman Sachs in 2018 and a $240M Series F in January 2020 that came alongside a decision to put a planned IPO on hold, followed by a $200M raise in December 2021 for its supply chain finance platform.
Tradeshift went through significant upheaval starting in 2023: co-founder and CEO Christian Lanng was fired that October over alleged gross misconduct, a $70M raise and a new embedded-finance joint venture with HSBC (SemFi) were announced the same year, and the executive team was rebuilt twice in quick succession — first under CEO James Stirk from September 2023, then again from December 2024 under current CEO Mike Cowles — before Tradeshift exited the SemFi joint venture in July 2026.
Private securities are speculative, illiquid, and involve risk of complete loss of principal. You should be prepared to hold private securities for an extended period; there is no assurance of a secondary market, an IPO, or other liquidity event. You are fully responsible for conducting your own due diligence. Pricing is indicative — nothing here is an offer of securities.
