Overview
Traveloka is a Southeast Asian online travel booking platform founded in February 2012 in Jakarta, Indonesia by Ferry Unardi, Albert, and Derianto Kusuma, three Indonesian software engineers who had previously worked together at Microsoft. The company began as a flight-search aggregator before adding flight purchases in 2013 and hotel bookings in 2014, and has since expanded into train tickets, attraction and activity bookings, and lifestyle financial services such as a co-branded credit card and a "PayLater" installment product.
The platform now operates across eight markets -- Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Australia, and, as of May 2025, Japan -- positioning itself as a bridge for travel demand between Japan and Southeast Asia. Traveloka is headquartered in Singapore, with substantial operations remaining in Jakarta, and its ultimate holding entity is Traveloka Holding Ltd.
Traveloka remains an independent, privately held company. It reached unicorn status in 2017 on the strength of a $500 million financing round and was reported at a roughly $3 billion valuation in January 2022. The company evaluated a U.S. public listing via a SPAC merger with Bridgetown Holdings starting in early 2021 but halted those talks in September 2021, and no IPO has since been completed. In 2022 it raised a $300 million private credit (debt) facility from a lender consortium that included BlackRock and Orion, which it repaid early, from internal funds, in April 2024 -- a signal of balance-sheet strength rather than a further equity raise.
Public sources this session could verify Ferry Unardi as founding CEO and Caesar Indra as President; a full current board of directors or broader executive bench could not be independently confirmed from the sources reachable in this session (Traveloka's own leadership/about pages could not be fetched directly).
