Overview
Vanta was founded in 2018 by Christina Cacioppo, who experienced firsthand how manual and slow it was to prepare for a SOC 2 audit while leading Dropbox Paper, and set out to automate continuous security monitoring instead of one-time audit checklists.
The San Francisco-based company's platform continuously tests a customer's cloud infrastructure, HR systems, and code repositories against dozens of frameworks, then centralizes the resulting evidence so audits that once took months can be completed in weeks.
In 2025 and 2026 Vanta expanded from compliance automation into a broader trust and risk platform, layering AI-driven agents on top of its existing evidence graph to draft policies, remediate failed tests, and answer security questionnaires automatically.
