Waabi is a Toronto-based artificial intelligence company developing the Waabi Driver, a generative AI-powered "Physical AI" platform for autonomous trucking. It was founded in June 2021 by Raquel Urtasun, a University of Toronto professor and former chief scientist and head of R&D at Uber's Advanced Technologies Group.
Following its January 2026 Series C round, Waabi expanded beyond trucking into robotaxis through an exclusive partnership with Uber, which committed to deploy at least 25,000 Waabi-powered autonomous vehicles on its ridehail platform.
