Overview
World Labs was founded in January 2024 by Fei-Fei Li together with Justin Johnson, Ben Mildenhall, and Christoph Lassner, researchers with backgrounds in computer vision, neural rendering, and computer graphics. The company emerged from stealth in September 2024 with $230 million in seed funding at a $1 billion valuation.
The company's research centers on spatial intelligence: AI models that perceive, generate, and simulate three-dimensional environments rather than working only with text or 2D images. Its first commercial product, Marble, opened in limited beta on September 16, 2025 and reached general availability on November 12, 2025, letting users generate editable 3D worlds from images, video, text prompts, or rough spatial sketches.
World Labs closed a $1 billion Series B round on February 18, 2026, with participation from Autodesk, AMD, NVIDIA, Fidelity Management & Research, Emerson Collective, and Sea, among others. Media reports from January and February 2026 placed the company's valuation at approximately $5 billion, though World Labs did not confirm a specific post-money figure for the round.
