Overview
Zepz was founded in London in 2010 as WorldRemit by Ismail Ahmed, Catherine Wines, and Richard Igoe, building a mobile-first alternative to traditional money transfer agents for migrants sending remittances abroad.
WorldRemit acquired the Sendwave money transfer app in February 2021, and later that year the group adopted the Zepz name as a holding company for both the WorldRemit and Sendwave consumer brands.
Zepz has since diversified beyond core remittances, launching a stablecoin-backed Sendwave Wallet in October 2025 and acquiring the San Francisco-based credit and lending fintech Pomelo International in January 2026.
